As a child I attended Sunday School and Church regularly. It wasn’t until I went to summer camp between second and third grade that I remember the Gospel being preached. After the movie, “A Thief in the Night” I made a profession of faith, confessed my sin and asked Jesus to come into my life and be my Savior.
Several years later, in 1973, I met Pete when he was working as a ranch hand for my cousin. We began dating and were married 2 ½ years later. I was studying to be a dental hygienist and Pete was studying Business Management and Economics at Eastern Washington University. Overall I practiced dental hygiene for 25 years, 10 years in Spokcane, WA and 15 years in Oregon and Pete was in Business Management for 15 years. During our time living in Eastern Washington we grew in our walks with The Lord quite a bit. Pete and I served as youth leaders for a few years before becoming West Coast Missionaries with Word of Life Fellowship, Inc. We served with WOL for 16 years (May-1993 to May 2009) where our ministry focus was working with local Bible-believing churches in areas of evangelism and discipleship for adults, teenagers, and children, assisting them to grow and have a vibrant Christian walk.
God has used Pete as one of the greatest influences in my life, not only as my best friend, but as a spiritual leader. He was a godly father to our children and continues to be looked up to by them. Our children and their families are an unbelievable blessings from God and we are grateful they love Him, want to know Him more, and please Him with their lives.
Although there have been influential times and people throughout my life, my greatest spiritual “growth steps” began in February 2001 when we attended Biblical Counseling Training at Faith Baptist Church, Lafayette, IN. I continue to be involved in advanced counseling training and completed my certification as a NANC Certified Counselor in July, 2009. Pete and I had the privilege along with co-workers to bring this training to the Pacific Northwest for our pastors and lay leaders. Looking back, Dr. Oscar Hegg and Pastor Bruce Bottjen were godly pastors and their preaching and influence made a huge impact on my life.
We have been serving now as missionaries with Northwest Baptist Home Mission/Baptist Network Northwest since April, 2009. I very much enjoy partnering with Pete as well as focusing on encouraging women in their various roles within the church.
